Two Tips To Help You Overcome Procrastination

Nancy is a Healthy Lifestyle Expert, Weight Loss Coach. She is committed to helping you KILL the fat on your body and the F.A.T. in your mind (false assumed truths) that hold you back from living your best life.

"The problem with waiting until tomorrow is that when it finally arrives, it is called today. We need to give thought, but we also need to take action. You need to dream without just being a dreamer. Nothing is more burdensome than an unfinished task.”

Your mindset and thinking influence all areas of your life, including your ability to move forward and take ACTION. You are who, what, and where you are in life right now because of how your mind works. It is often said that what you think you become. Procrastination shows up in ways you may least expect.

For example, the basis for your procrastination could be FEAR. This is what perfectionism is if you take a hard look at it. These idealistic virtues can keep you paralyzed for life and turn your thoughts into a self-doubting machine! They are dominating your vision for the future with negative thoughts, reasons why you can’t accomplish what you want, and allowing fear to take over to keep you safe.

So HOW can you overcome procrastination?

  1. Break It Down. Break down big tasks into manageable pieces and knock them off one at a time. Avoid focusing on the BIG picture because it can seem daunting and therefore unachievable. You may end up quitting before you even get started.  Think of the staircase….you are standing at the bottom and to get to the top you need to climb ALL the  stairs. How do you do it? By focusing on one stair at a time, and when you hit one, you focus on the next…and so on until you reach the top!
  2. Write It Down. Do you know exactly what you do during your 16 hours of waking and “doing”? Writing down a checklist of activities that you are busy with throughout your day can bring keen insight as to where you are wasting your time.

Writing things down brings an AWARENESS around WHAT you are doing with your time. It highlights distractions, detours, and unnecessary activities as well as what you are NOT getting done.

When you break it down and write it down you are on your way to becoming a MORE productive person who gets S#@$ done! When you don’t control your time, your time will control you. So now, it’s up to you. You can get unstuck just by choosing to do so.  You Got This!

“The most pernicious aspect of procrastination is that it can become a habit. We don't just put off our lives today; we put them off till our deathbed.”
